The Urgency of Implementing Moral Values for the Millennial Generation in the Era of Modernization
Abstract
Moral decline is a serious challenge that pervades various levels of society, especially in Indonesia, with data showing a significant prevalence among teenagers. Awareness of moral values is crucial because it determines how individuals act and behave. Moral values education plays a central role in human life, opening a window to goodness, noble values and usefulness. This research aims to explore the urgency of moral values education in overcoming moral decline. Efforts to overcome moral decline require a holistic strategy, one of which is by instilling character education from an early age in the family, school and community. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method, exploring information from journal articles, books, websites and other relevant sources. The research results show that moral values education plays a vital role in facing the challenge of moral decline for the millennial generation, namely: 1) Islamic Religious Education Strategy, 2) Revitalization of Character Education, 3) Contribution of Moral Education to Civil Society. Thus, the results of this research provide further understanding about the urgency of moral values education in the face of moral decline, especially through the approach of moral values education, revitalizing character education, and contributing to the formation of civil society. Moral values education is an important key in forming a generation that is moral and contributes positively to society.
