Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning ethos within the pesantren tradition by focusing on the spiritual, ethical, and moral values contained in the text Al-Malhuzat by Ahmad Asrori Al-Ishaqi. The research seeks to explore how these values contribute to shaping students’ character and the educational process in pesantren. This study employs a qualitative approach using textual analysis combined with Islamic education theory and cultural studies. Data were collected through in-depth analysis of the text and supported by interviews with pesantren scholars and educators. The data were analyzed through stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the learning ethos in pesantren is strongly influenced by spiritual values such as piety, sincerity, discipline, and moral integrity. These values are integrated into the educational process and play a significant role in shaping students’ character holistically. The study also highlights that the internalization of these values strengthens not only intellectual development but also ethical and spiritual awareness. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of spiritual values in pesantren education and their relevance in developing a holistic learning ethos.
