Interpersonal Communication in Tahfizh Guidance: Analysis of the Qu'ran Memorization Process of Zaid bin Tsabit Students

Abstract

The finding of stagnation in memorization, decreased motivation and boredom related to communication between instructors and students, then Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, especially the Zaid bin Tsabit area, actively applies interpersonal communication to build a conducive learning atmosphere, especially the psychological side of students and internalization of religious values. So this study aims to examine the role of interpersonal communication in the process of memorizing the Qur'an. The approach used is descriptive with observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results of the study indicate that effective, empathetic and adaptive interpersonal communication between instructors and students is a key factor in accelerating memorization and character formation of students. Instructors who are able to build emotional closeness, provide motivation, and apply two-way communication methods have been proven to increase students' enthusiasm and discipline in learning. On the other hand, the main obstacles regarding time constraints, disparity in abilities, and boredom can be minimized through a transformative and dialogical communication approach. Therefore, this study recommends strengthening interpersonal communication training for instructors as a strategy to improve the quality of the tahfizh program and the formation of a generation of Qur'an scholars with character.
