The Talaqqi Method as a Strategy for Enhancing the Quality of Qur’an Memorization among Tahfiz Students
Metode Talaqqi sebagai Strategi Peningkatan Kualitas Hafalan Al-Qur’an Santri Tahfiz
Abstract
This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of the talaqqi method in improving the quality of Qur’an memorization among students at SMPTQ Al Marjan Klaten. The study employed a qualitative approach with a field research design. The research participants consisted of Qur’an teachers, halaqah instructors, the school principal, students’ parents, and 18 students, including 11 female and 7 male students. Data were collected through observations of the tahfidz learning process, in-depth interviews with key informants, and documentation in the form of memorization records and supporting documents. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model, which included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that the talaqqi method was implemented in a structured and continuous manner through morning talqin sessions, memorization submissions during afternoon halaqah, and Qur’an reading (tilawah) activities in the evening halaqah. The initial talqin focused on Surah An-Naba’ and was delivered by a qualified Qur’an teacher with strong mastery of tajwid and proper articulation (makhārij al-ḥurūf). Most students were able to memorize the verses accurately after the first talqin, while a small number of students experienced difficulties in memorization. The talaqqi method was proven to improve the quality of Qur’an memorization, not only in terms of fluency but also in accuracy of pronunciation, application of tajwid rules, and overall recitation quality (faṣāḥah). In addition, parents reported noticeable improvements in their children’s Qur’an recitation during home-based murāja‘ah. Therefore, the talaqqi method is effective in developing strong and accurate Qur’an memorization and is appropriate for sustained implementation in tahfidz education.
