Azqi Inda Malihatin Edi Komarudin Asep Supianudin ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-05-25 2026-05-25 9 2 260 289 10.31538/almada.v9i2.10297 Tahfidz Learning Strategies as a Representation of Islamic Educational Tradition: A Study at TPQ Nurul Qodiri https://e-journal.uac.ac.id/index.php/almada/article/view/10503
This study aims to analyze the implementation of the tahfidz learning strategy as a representation of islamic educational traditions at the Nurul Qodiri Islamic Boarding School (TPQ) in Jelbuk, Jember, identifying inhibiting factors, and examining the evaluation system. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation using the Miles and Huberman data analysis model. The results indicate that the tahfidz learning strategy was implemented systematically through the sima'i, takrir, talaqqi, and murojaah methods. Despite obstacles such as low student concentration, differences in memorization abilities, and time constraints, TPQ Nurul Qodiri successfully maintained the quality of memorization through tiered evaluations that included daily tests through achievement books, volume advancement, and annual munaqosyah (recitation of the Quran). This strategy serves not only as a memorization method but also as a means of transmitting values of discipline, etiquette, and religious culture, involving synergy between teachers and parents.
Fatimatus Zahro Fajar Abdillah ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-05-25 2026-05-25 9 2 290 306 10.31538/almada.v9i2.10503 Representing Humanity in the Poem '`an al-Insan' by Mahmoud Darwish: A Roland Barthesian Semiotic Analysis https://e-journal.uac.ac.id/index.php/almada/article/view/10131
This study examines the representation of humanity in Mahmoud Darwish's poem "عن إنسان" through Roland Barthes' semiotic perspective, with the aim of uncovering multi-level meanings at the levels of denotation, connotation, and myth. Mahmoud Darwish's poem is understood as a text of resistance that records the experiences of the Palestinian people under the pressure of colonialism. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method, and data collection techniques in the form of observation and note-taking based on literature studies. The results of the analysis show that at the denotation level, the poem presents a literal depiction of humans who are chained, isolated, and labeled through. At the connotation level, signs such as chains in the mouth, death stones, expulsion and drying wheat represent silencing, shackles, exile, threats and hopes for human survival. Meanwhile, at the myth level, the text constructs a critique of the naturalization of violence through a discourse that reverses the victim as the guilty party, so that oppression appears legitimized and normal. This finding confirms that the poem “عن إنسان” not only functions aesthetically, but also as a medium for dismantling the myth of dehumanization, as well as an ethical call to restore human dignity as an autonomous and dignified subject.
Ade Sopiah Yayan Rahtikawati Akmaliyah Akmaliyah ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-05-27 2026-05-27 9 2 260 282 10.31538/almada.v9i2.10131 Negotiating Da’wah and Algorithms: Social Media Strategies of Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School https://e-journal.uac.ac.id/index.php/almada/article/view/9983
The digital era has shifted religious communication patterns from offline spaces (assemblies, religious study groups, and face-to-face meetings) to fast-paced, device-based online spaces. Therefore, Islamic missionary and educational institutions need to understand this shift in the communication ecology so that their messages remain credible, moderate, and relevant to the needs of modern society. To deepen the analysis of the audience aspect, new media theory states that the shift from conventional media to digital media is marked by the presence of the internet, which creates a faster, more open, and interconnected communication space. New media does not only present one-way information like television or radio, but emphasizes interactivity so that audiences can respond, collaborate, and build networks. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical study method. Data were obtained through observations of digital missionary content, interviews with preachers and digital missionary audiences, and documentation of missionary activities on social media. This study shows that Islamic boarding school da'wah strategies on social media run as an interconnected cycle, namely planning (mapped: students, guardians, alumni, the general public, and the younger generation), production, distribution, interaction, and evaluation. Then, themes are arranged through content pillars and upload calendars so that communication is not sporadic. This study confirms that da'wah strategies through social media are a transformation from conventional da'wah strategies. Certainly, da'wah strategies through social media are more up-to-date, friendly, creative and disseminated through algorithmic formulas. For further research, it is recommended to conduct comparisons between Islamic boarding schools, in-depth analysis of audiences and engagement motives, and develop a quantitative approach (mixed research) so that the relationship between strategy, digital metrics, and offline impacts can be tested more strongly.
Hadi Ismanto Muhammad Alfian Adi Nugraha Moch. The study employed a mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential design: quantitative measurement using a one-group pretest–posttest design, followed by qualitative exploration through observations of group processes and facilitator field notes to explain the observed changes. The group counseling intervention was conducted in six sessions (60–90 minutes per session) across the stages of formation (Session 1), transition (early Session 2), working (Sessions 2–5), and termination (Session 6). The facilitator fostered a sense of safety through a group contract covering confidentiality, mutual respect, and a commitment to punctual attendance. Results of a paired-samples t-test involving 10 students indicated a significant increase in discipline scores from the pretest (M = 81.60) to the posttest (M = 93.30), t(9) = 8.66, p < .001, with a mean difference of 11.70 points. Qualitative findings suggested that changes in disciplined behavior were influenced by reinforcing the meaning of rules as a form of worship, understanding time-management strategies, peer support, and self-control exercises practiced in the dormitory setting. The study’s implications emphasize that structured group counseling aligned with pesantren culture has the potential to serve as a guidance and counseling strategy for improving students’ discipline.
Ahmad Maujuhan Syah M. The study employed a qualitative approach with a field research design. The research participants consisted of Qur’an teachers, halaqah instructors, the school principal, students’ parents, and 18 students, including 11 female and 7 male students. Data were collected through observations of the tahfidz learning process, in-depth interviews with key informants, and documentation in the form of memorization records and supporting documents. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model, which included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that the talaqqi method was implemented in a structured and continuous manner through morning talqin sessions, memorization submissions during afternoon halaqah, and Qur’an reading (tilawah) activities in the evening halaqah. The initial talqin focused on Surah An-Naba’ and was delivered by a qualified Qur’an teacher with strong mastery of tajwid and proper articulation (makhārij al-ḥurūf). Most students were able to memorize the verses accurately after the first talqin, while a small number of students experienced difficulties in memorization. The talaqqi method was proven to improve the quality of Qur’an memorization, not only in terms of fluency but also in accuracy of pronunciation, application of tajwid rules, and overall recitation quality (faṣāḥah). In addition, parents reported noticeable improvements in their children’s Qur’an recitation during home-based murāja‘ah. Therefore, the talaqqi method is effective in developing strong and accurate Qur’an memorization and is appropriate for sustained implementation in tahfidz education.
Shofi Layliyatul Hamidah Ahmad Nurrohim ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-05-28 2026-05-28 9 2 325 342 10.31538/almada.v9i2.9573 Humanistic Da‘wah and Religious Freedom in QS. Al-Baqarah Verse 256: A Comparative Study of Quraish Shihab and Hamka’s Tafsir https://e-journal.uac.ac.id/index.php/almada/article/view/9269
This study examines the concept of humanist da'wa contained in verse 256 of Surah Al-Baqarah through a comparative study of two popular commentaries, namely Quraish Shihab's Tafsir Al-Misbah and Hamka's Tafsir Al-Azhar. The study is qualitative with a library research approach, in the form of analysis of the main text and supporting literature to explore the meaning, scope, and comparison of the two commentators' interpretations of the verse. The results of the analysis show that verse 256 substantively describes the principles of humanist da'wah: upholding Islamic teachings without coercion, being polite, and prioritizing wisdom. Both commentaries agree that Islam advocates peace, tolerance, and religious freedom. However, there are methodological differences and emphases: Quraish Shihab (Al-Misbah) tends to use an analytical approach per sentence and linguistic-linguistic context, while Hamka (Al-Azhar) emphasizes the historical background, stories of the apostles and companions, and references to hadith as an interpretative framework. This study concludes that the understanding of humanist da'wa in verse 256 can be enriched by integrating the strengths of both contextual-linguistic and historical-narrative approaches as a reference for moderate and inclusive da'wa practices.
Nazaruddin Nazaruddin Dwi Fitri Muhammad Syahrial Razali Ibrahim ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-05-28 2026-05-28 9 2 343 361 10.31538/almada.v9i2.9269 Islamic Da’wa in the Digital Age: Leveraging Tiktok for Religious Engagement and Education https://e-journal.uac.ac.id/index.php/almada/article/view/8349
In today’s fast-paced digital era, the landscape of Islamic da’wah is undergoing a profound transformation. Social media platforms especially TikTok are emerging as vibrant tools for sharing religious teachings in ways that are engaging, accessible, and relevant to younger audiences. This study delves into how TikTok supports Islamic education, focusing on audience participation, the ease of accessing content, and the influence of algorithmic promotion. Using qualitative methods such as interviews, observations, and surveys, it uncovers key patterns in engagement and identifies the challenges Islamic educators face in this space. While TikTok enables wider outreach and facilitates lively religious discourse, concerns remain over theological accuracy, content authenticity, and potential misinformation. To address this, educators are encouraged to adopt storytelling approaches, host interactive Q and A sessions, and collaborate with verified scholars to enhance both credibility and impact. By proposing a structured framework for meaningful social media-based da’wah, this research contributes to a growing body of work on digital religious outreach. Looking ahead, future studies should explore how TikTok-based da’wah influences long-term faith development, the retention of religious knowledge, and the dynamic interplay between spirituality and technology.
Sholihatul Atik Hikmawati Hasyim Asy'ari ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-05-28 2026-05-28 9 2 362 378 10.31538/almada.v9i2.8349 Portrait of Islamic and Hindu Tolerance in Kediri: A Study from Pierre Bourdieu's Perspective https://e-journal.uac.ac.id/index.php/almada/article/view/10143
Religious tolerance is a form of attitude that must continue to be present in a pluralistic society like Indonesia. As a country with ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity, religious tolerance and harmony are non-negotiable. The people of Kediri, as an integral part of multicultural religious life, continue to maintain harmonious relations between religious communities, especially Islam and Hinduism, by utilizing various forms of capital (as described by Bourdieu), which are continuously maintained and passed down from generation to generation. This study will examine the relationship between Islam and Hinduism in Ringinsari Village, Kediri, from the perspective of Pierre Bourdieu's theory. This study examines how capital plays a role in shaping the arena, and to what extent is it internalized in religious life. This study uses qualitative methods using interviews, observation, documentation, and data analysis, as outlined by Miles and Haberman. The results show that in building relations between Islam and Hinduism in Kediri, social capital is a tool in the primary structure of Kediri society. Furthermore, cultural capital is manifested in various religious traditions, and symbolic capital is depicted in the village label "Religious Moderation." Another aspect not captured in Boerdieu's theory is that tolerance is also hereditary, not entirely formed through habitus structures. Rather, it exists within the realm of a continuously preserved legacy. This legacy of tolerance contributes to the formation of a conducive environment, enabling harmony to continue to develop and stabilize within society. However, both inherited capital and social, cultural, and symbolic capital have all contributed to building harmonious relations between Islam and Hinduism in Kediri.
Budi Ichwayudi ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-05-29 2026-05-29 9 2 379 395 10.31538/almada.v9i2.10143 The ‘Nikah Malem Songo’ within the Framework of Cultural Islam: The Acculturation of Islam and Local Traditions https://e-journal.uac.ac.id/index.php/almada/article/view/10258
This research aims to analyze the phenomenon of the "Nikah Malem Songo" tradition in Tuban Regency within the framework of Cultural Islam. The primary problem addressed is the sociological and psychological barriers faced by couples hindered by unfavorable Javanese "weton" calculations, known as "Ngebo Bingung." This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a cultural anthropological approach to explore the dialectics between religion and tradition. The results indicate that "Nikah Malem Songo" serves as a "cultural exit," where the spiritual sanctity of the 29th night of Ramadan is believed to neutralize potential misfortunes predicted by ancient horoscopes. Although the timing is local and collective, the marriage rituals are strictly performed according to Islamic Sharia principles. This practice represents a harmonious acculturation, where normative religious values adapt to the local wisdom of coastal communities. It is concluded that this tradition is a "living tradition" that functions as a social problem-solving mechanism for the people of Tuban while strengthening a religious identity that is accommodative of local culture.
Andhika Fatchur Widyanto M. The Leva Nuang tradition, a cultural heritage of the people of Lamalera, is a traditional whaling season carried out collectively and passed down from generation to generation. This study aims to explore the meaning of religious values contained in the Leva Nuang tradition within the life of the Lamalera community. This study uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach to understand the cultural practices, beliefs, and social life of the community related to the implementation of Leva Nuang. The results of the study reveal several important religious values. Firstly, the tradition reflects values of belief and faith through prayers and customary rituals addressed to God and ancestors for safety and abundant sustenance. Secondly, Leva Nuang embodies the value of gratitude and respect for nature as a gift from the Creator. Thirdly, the tradition strengthens social solidarity, cooperation, kinship, and togetherness among community members in carrying out whaling activities. Lastly, the tradition upholds moral values such as responsibility, obedience to customary rules, and mutual respect within the community. The Leva Nuang tradition not only strengthens the vertical relationship between humans and God but also enhances horizontal relationships among community members. Preserving this tradition is important for maintaining cultural identity, religious awareness, and social harmony within the Lamalera community. Overall, Leva Nuang plays a significant role in the spiritual and cultural life of the Lamalera people.
Gelu Azimu Alfonsus Mudi Aran Hermania Bhoki ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-06-06 2026-06-06 9 2 412 426 10.31538/almada.v9i2.10511 The Strategic Role of Posyandu Cadres in Stunting Prevention and Reduction in Banten Regency https://e-journal.uac.ac.id/index.php/almada/article/view/10017
This study examines the role of Posyandu cadres in reducing stunting rates in RW 01, Darmasari Village. Through his literary works filled with symbolism, Rushdie criticizes the rigidity of Islamic orthodoxy that rejects plural interpretations and restricts intellectual freedom. He emphasizes the necessity of engaging in critical dialogue with modernity, cultural hybridity, and pluralism as essential elements in shaping contemporary Muslim identity. Meanwhile, Hasan Hanafi advances the idea of liberation theology through his project of al-Turāth wa al-Tajdīd (tradition and renewal), Qur’anic hermeneutics, and the concept of Islamic Left, which highlights social justice and societal transformation. By employing a library research approach, this study demonstrates that despite their different backgrounds and methods, both thinkers share a common orientation: shifting Islamic studies from a theocentric paradigm to an anthropocentric one, and from dogmatism toward transformative praxis. Using a library research method with a qualitative-descriptive approach and content analysis of classical and contemporary texts, this study finds that Qadariyah represents the rationalist-extreme pole that emphasizes absolute human freedom, rejects destiny, places reason above revelation, and believes that humans are the creators of their own actions to maintain divine justice. In contrast, Asy'ariyah emerges as a moderate middle path by accepting absolute destiny, making revelation the highest authoritative source, and introducing the concept of kasb (acquisition), which states that God is the true creator of human actions while humans are empirical actors through acquisition. The conclusion is that Asy'ariyah is more dominant in the history of Sunni Islamic thought because it is able to harmonize pure monotheism with human moral responsibility.
Firman Aries Mahendra Muhamad Afif ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-06-15 2026-06-15 9 2 459 477 10.31538/almada.v9i2.10518 Analysis of Social Relationships of Orphanage Children Through a Sociometric Approach https://e-journal.uac.ac.id/index.php/almada/article/view/10446
This study aims to analyze the structure of social relations of foster children at the Sri Mujinab Child Care Social Institution (PSPA) in Riau Province using a sociometric approach. The research is motivated by the importance of understanding the dynamics of social interactions of foster children in a residential care environment as part of the process of self-adjustment and the formation of social solidarity. The study uses a quantitative approach through the descriptive sociometric method. The study population consisted of 43 foster children with a total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through a sociometric questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out by analyzing the results of the sociometric index and the results of the sociogram regarding the position of children in the structure of the orphanage group. The results show that the social relations of foster children form several social positions, namely star, isolate, mutual pair, and clique. Children who actively interact and have good communication skills tend to receive higher social acceptance than children who are less active or experience difficulties in social adaptation. This study concludes that the sociometric approach is effective for mapping the dynamics of children's social relations in the orphanage environment and can be a basis for developing social development programs, group counseling, and strengthening peer support to improve the social integration of foster children.
Angga Alghifari Achmad Hidir Mita Rosaliza ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-06-15 2026-06-15 9 2 478 495 10.31538/almada.v9i2.10446
