Menelaah Makna Masjid Krue Se Sebagai Simbol Memori Kolektif Komunitas Muslim Patani di Thailand Selatan

Kajian mengenai komunitas Muslim Pattani penting dilakukan karena dinamika hubungan minoritas-mayoritas dan trauma sejarah akibat konflik sosial-politik di Thailand Selatan terus membayangi integrasi budaya mereka. Sayangnya, penelitian terdahulu lebih banyak berfokus pada analisis konflik politik secara makro dan fungsi sosial-keagamaan masjid secara umum, sehingga kerap mengabaikan bagaimana situs fisik secara spesifik mentransmisikan trauma dan ingatan sejarah lokal. Masjid Krue perlu dikaji secara khusus melalui perspektif memori kolektif karena bangunan arsitektural tanpa kubah ini menyimpan jejak memori trauma sejarah, seperti serangan Siam hingga Insiden 2004, yang berfungsi sebagai ruang simbolik sekaligus media konstruksi identitas Melayu Muslim. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi lapangan dan studi pustaka, serta menggunakan teori memori kolektif Maurice Halbwachs, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis proses historis dan mekanisme sosial dalam pembentukan makna Masjid Krue Se. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Masjid Krue Se tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai tempat ibadah, tetapi juga diproduksi secara sosial sebagai simbol keberadaan Kesultanan Melayu Pattani dan sebagai media perlawanan kultural. Memori tersebut dirawat dan diwariskan secara antargenerasi melalui lembaga tadika, narasi keluarga, organisasi komunitas, dan media sosial, di tengah sensitivitas politik negara.

Mitigating Confirmation Bias in Group Communication at Al-Ikhlas Mosque, East Medan District

Confirmation bias is a cognitive bias that may influence group communication and lead to less objective decision-making. This article aims to analyze the role of deliberation (musyawarah) as a mechanism for mitigating confirmation bias in group communication during conflict resolution at Al-Ikhlas Mosque, East Medan District. The study focuses on how group communication through deliberation prevents prejudice from dominating the decision-making process and promotes fair decisions based on comprehensive information. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach by examining the deliberation process involving the Mosque Prosperity Board (BKM), community leaders, and individuals directly involved in the conflict. The findings indicate that deliberation provides equal opportunities for all parties to present their perspectives, resulting in more comprehensive information and reducing the influence of confirmation bias. The deliberation concluded that the mosque caretaker should be dismissed because his actions had caused discomfort and unrest within the mosque community, while also clarifying that allegations regarding his sexual orientation were unsupported by concrete evidence. Therefore, deliberation functions not only as an effective form of group communication in conflict resolution but also as a mechanism for achieving objective, fair, and accountable decision-making.

Social Reflection in the Novel “ ‘Inâdul Amwâj” by Muhammad Jibril ( A Study by Alan Swingewood)

This study examines various aspects of the sociology of literature in the novel “’Inâdul Amwâj” by Muhammad Jibril, using Alan Swingewood’s approach to the sociology of literature. This study aims to uncover the authorial production, social reflections, and historical connections contained within the novel. The method used is qualitative descriptive analysis, employing read-and-note and content analysis of text excerpts that represent the social reality of the 20^th century Egypt. The results of the study reveal three main findings. First, the creation of Muhammad Jibril’s novel ‘Inâdul Amwâj was shaped by the author’s background as a prominent journalist in Egypt and his spatial proximity to the city of Alexandria. These factors motivated Muhammad Jibril to write this work. Second, the novel reflects the sociopolitical dynamics of the 20^th century. This is evident through the portrayal of various aspects of social structure, such as authoritarian power (surveillance, abductions, and torture) familial relations, class conflict, population composition. Third, the novel is deeply connections to 20^th century history. This study makes a significant contribution by demonstrating that the novel ‘Inâdul Amwâj serves as a social document of Egyptian society’s criticism and resistance through literature.
