The Distribution of Religious Knowledge within the Flow of Digital Information on the Instagram Account @quranreview
Abstract
This study aims to analyze in-depth how the Instagram account @quranreview constructs religious knowledge as a digital information product while simultaneously creating a virtual religious learning space through the flow of information distribution on social media. The study employed a qualitative approach with qualitative content analysis methods. As a theoretical foundation, this study utilizes Manuel Castells' Network Society theory to understand patterns of information distribution, meaning formation, and the evolving communication network relationships within the digital da'wa ecosystem. Data collection was conducted through non-participatory digital observation of the @quranreview account as a whole. Next, the researchers documented and analyzed three pieces of content purposively selected based on The relevance of the religious theme, the characteristics of the distribution strategy, and the level of audience engagement displayed. The data analysis process was conducted using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and verification, which occurred cyclically and continuously. The results show that @quranreview consistently implements a content packaging strategy that combines dialogic and emotional narratives, the use of simple yet engaging visual design, and a distribution pattern that allows content to spread widely across user networks. Furthermore, this distribution process organically contributes to the formation of an active virtual religious learning space through horizontal interactions between users in the comments section. Thus, the function of digital da'wa is no longer limited to the conventional delivery of religious messages, but has evolved into a participatory and collective ecosystem for the production of religious knowledge. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of digital Islamic communication studies, particularly in the application of Network Society theory to interpret the dynamics of da'wa on social media. Furthermore, this study also opens up new discussion regarding how religious authority is renegotiated and how religious knowledge is reproduced in the context of a networked society in Indonesia.
