Dampak Perubahan Sosial Terhadap Praktik Poligami di Masyarakat Modern: Tinjauan Hukum Keluarga Islam

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of social change on polygamous practices within the context of modern society and to review the relevance of Islamic family law in implementing such regulations. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method, the study conducts in-depth interviews with religious leaders, legal practitioners, and individuals involved in polygamous practices. The findings indicate that societal awareness of women's rights and social justice is increasing, significantly altering public perceptions of polygamy. Although Islamic law permits polygamy under the condition of fairness, the reality in practice often fails to meet these criteria. Many families experience dissatisfaction due to inequitable treatment among wives. This research concludes that achieving justice in polygamous practices requires improved legal education, advocacy for individual rights, and strengthened legal monitoring mechanisms. The findings are expected to provide insights for policymakers and society to create fairer solutions in polygamous practices in the modern era.
