el-Ifta: Jurnal Hukum Maqasidi is a scholarly journal dedicated to advancing the study of Islamic law through the lens of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah (the higher objectives of the Sharī‘ah) as a framework for legal analysis, ijtihād, and legal renewal. The journal serves as an academic forum that brings the classical tradition of uṣūl al-fiqh into dialogue with contemporary legal challenges, fostering approaches to Islamic jurisprudence that are rigorous, context-sensitive, and oriented toward the realization of public welfare (maṣlaḥah)—whether at the level of theory, methodology, or policy application.

Focus and Scope

The journal welcomes manuscripts addressing, among others, the following areas:

  • Theories and methodologies of maqāṣid-oriented Islamic law (maqāṣid, maṣlaḥah, qawā‘id fiqhiyyah, uṣūl al-fiqh).

  • Contemporary ijtihād and fatwā: the dynamics of iftā’, authority, and fatwā governance.

  • Family law, Islamic economics/finance, and modern mu‘āmalāt (including digital/fintech issues).

  • Islamic public law: siyāsah shar‘iyyah, governance, legislation, and legal reform.

  • Comparative legal systems (Islamic–national–international) and issues of human rights, social justice, and public ethics.

  • Cross-disciplinary issues: bioethics, environment, health, education, media, and technology—examined through a maqāṣid framework.
