Effectiveness of Gimkit As as a Game-Based Assessment on Arabic Vocabulary: A Quasi-Experimental Study in Grade 8 at Sumatra Thawalib Parabek Bukittinggi
Efektivitas Gimkit sebagai Asesmen Berbasis Gim pada Kosakata Bahasa Arab: Studi Kuasi-Eksperimen pada Kelas VIII di Sumatra Thawalib Parabek Bukittinggi
Abstract
Purpose - this study is to find out how the study are to demonstrate the abilities of eighth-grade students before using Gimkit, to explain the use of in vocabulary assessment, and to determine the effectiveness of in assessing vocabulary teaching among eighth-grade students at the Sumatra Thawalib Parabek Bukittinggi Schooll.
Design/methodology/approach - The research uses a quantitative experimental method with pre-test and post-test designs. Data collection techniques include tests, observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the T-test with SPSS 25, after conducting normality and homogeneity tests.
Findings/results – The study found that (with ten stages) can influence students’ social, spiritual, and intellectual behavior and increase interest. Vocabulary scores improved more in the experimental group (70.41 → 87.08) than in the control group (75.2 → 82.8), making learning more interactive and efficient.
Originality/value - This study offers novelty by positioning as a structured game-based assessment tool for Arabic vocabulary in an Indonesian madrasah context, outlining a clear multi-stage implementation within a quasi-experimental framework. The findings add practical value by showing that boosts students’ interest and produces stronger vocabulary gains than conventional instruction, supporting its use for more interactive and efficient Arabic learning and assessment.
